There are many children’s and families activities in the Hochkonig, therefore there is always something to keep you and your children occupied all holiday, when you stay at Haus Schneeberg, Holiday Apartments, Mühlbach am Hochkönig, Salzburg, Austria.

 

Many are in the Hochkönig region itself, and access is free with the Hochkönig card to many of the attractions!

Toni's Alpine Meadow Park in the Hochkönig

Take a trip up the Karbachalm gondola and experience the numerous play areas, which will make all children’s pulses race faster with excitement. On the water and sand playground, the youngest ones can let their creativity run wild. The children’s thirst for movement will be quenched on the climbing towers, roundabouts, and with mountain frisbee.

The surrounding hiking paths are ideal for a leisurely walk for parents with children and strollers. Along the way, you can enjoy the unique panorama of the Hochkönig region.

Mühlbach am Hochkönig is known as the Bergdorf der Tiere – the mountain village of animals.

This is due to the amount of petting zoos there are to visit in and around the village.  You can see goats, chickens, geese, pigs, rabbits and more! 

This includes the mascots “Manfred the marmot” along with his wife “Fraufred” in the marmot colony, where with a little bit of luck, you can observe marmots in their natural habitat.

Whether it is spending the day by the pool, or heading down for a cool off after a day in the mountains, the village pool is perfectly situated! It is only 400m from the house and has spectacular mountain views, a slide, and a cafe.

There is also a swimming pool in Maria Alm, which is larger with more slides.

Both are free to enter with the Hochkönig Card.

Take an exhilerating ride down the mountain on the summer toboggan ride!  The ride is situated in Biberg, near Saalfelden, and is great for all ages!

A free ride per person is inluded in the Hochkönig Card!

Take a trip to the top of the Karbachalm gondola, spend some time at Toni’s Alpine meadow, and then mountain cart down!

This is bound to get your pulse racing!  Note that there is a minimum height of 1.5m for safety reasons.

Archery Hochkoenig

Archery combines fun, concentration, excitement and relaxation, and is great for all ages!

You now get a free lesson with the Hochkönig Card –  9.30 – 12.00 Thursday at Jufenalm, Maria Alm.  Book your place by 10am the previous day, places limited!

Natrun Waldrutschenpark

Natrun Forest Adventure park, Prinzenberg 

From the centre of Maria Alm, take the Natrunbahn up the hill.  The adventure playground at Natrun in Maria Alm is located right next to the snack bar “Grammlergut”. 

Children can climb, rock, jump, dig and romp around to their heart’s content. Meanwhile, parents can enjoy the view and the fresh mountain air on the sun terrace of the Grammleralm.

With lots of momentum and fun, five stainless steel slides with a length of up to 55m will take you from the mountain station back down to the valley.

Test your balance and patience on the slack lines!

This is at the top of Karbachalm gondola, next to Toni’s Alpine Meadow park.

Take in the fantastic views of the Hochkönig at the same time, then head over to the Karbachalm for a relaxing drink!

The best way to combine nature, activity, adventure, and your love of horses!  Gallop across flowering alpine meadows, wade  through streams, enjoy the view from sunny heights.  With all this, feel yourself get carried away in this fariy tale mountain world of the Hochkönig

There is plenty of excitement and variety as each of the 18 holes has its own characteristics. 

Mini golf clubs, balls and a game pass are available at the ticket office of Natrunbahn. Fun for the whole family!

Herb walks

Recently, the Hochkönig region has started herbal walks for children, which are all about amazement, learning and collecting. 

After a drink or snack break on the herb alms you get a sticker for your  herbal collection pass  . You can easily exchange the pass for 7 or more stickers for your well-deserved herbal bag.  

During the herb hiking in the Hochkönig region, children can collect wooden balls with animal motifs from the Hochkönig animal kingdom.

At the top of Natrun in Maria Alm, try out the high rope courses,  Waldseilgarten, in the forest – there are a few to try from!

Climb from tree to tree and take a zip line!

Slide down the mountain at the end of the day!

This is an amazing playground near the top of Natrun, situsted next to the Grammlergut snack station.

It is an ideal place for the children to play, whilst the parents have refreshments, and tasty mountain snacks, whilst taking in the magnificent view!

Ghost Mountain

Situated in Alpendorf, just outside St Johann, the ghost mountain is a great family day out!

Take the gondola to the top of the mountain to access the park.

In the alpine leisure park there are air swings, the ghost castle, bird’s nest, climbing dragon, ghost tower, water games, ghost lake, cones shooting booths and much more.

Winter family fun

There are of course many family friendly activities in winter also!
